Core focus of Annex SL is to align all Management Systems to a common structure, which leads to enhanced integration. This gives opportunity for having common clauses and terminologies, for all MSS (earlier all standards were having their own number of clauses for PDCA Concept – giving challenges of integrating more than one standard for the same organization – only mapping was possible and not actual integration in true sense.
Major changes on Macro level structure of MSS (through Annex SL) includes, Introduction of Risk Management (replacing Preventive Actions) and Leadership. Annex SL is a new management system format that helps streamline creation of new standards, and make implementing multiple standards within one organization easier. It replaces ISO’s Guide 83, which provided a base structure and standardized text for management system standards (MSS).
